The Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA) Singapore initiates, produces and presents innovative and emerging creative practices. Through an annual program of interdisciplinary artistic and curatorial practices across the visual arts, design, new media and performance, it provides a dynamic site for contemporary culture in Southeast Asia.

Established by LASALLE College of the Arts in 1986 as the Dr Earl Lu Gallery, and repositioned as ICA Singapore and the college’s curatorial division in 2004, the ICA Singapore now comprises seven galleries that span a total of 1,500 square metres. It is located at LASALLE’s architect-designed Rochor campus, near the city centre, in Singapore’s arts, culture, learning and entertainment precinct.

The exhibition program is separated into two strands: major international exhibitions, and curriculum-related, individual and collaborative projects developed with LASALLE staff and students. The program provides a bridge between artistic research, experimentation and critique. Artists, curators, lecturers and students are encouraged to test their ideas through public exhibitions, exchange, critical viewing and discussion.

The ICA Singapore is a member of the Asian Arts Space Network (AASN), and regularly collaborates with international organisations, artists and guest curators.
