Public Lecture Series: Singapore’s Urban Malayo-Nusantara communities and their legacies beyond Kampong Gelam with Dr Imran Tajudeen
This talk will provide an overview of the historical urban settlements and the distribution of urban property associated with the diverse Malayo-Nusantara community in colonial Singapore Town in the 19th to early 20th century. It expands the discussion on urban Malay legacies within and beyond Kampong Gelam to consider historical connections across ethnicities in the formation of different urban districts in colonial Singapore.
