A favorite of Taiwan's nascent rock scene in the mid to late-1990s, the five-member group Mayday is set to return to Singapore on June 15th to play the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
Mayday's songs are written mostly in Mandarin with some Taiwanese Hokkien tracks by Ashin, who speaks fluent Hokkien. The band greatly admires The Beatles and is trying its best to become the "Beatles of the Chinese World”. The eighth track of their fifth album has a track called John Lennon.
Dubbed as “King of Concert's, tickets for the band's concerts are always hot-sellers. The band has staged successful concerts overseas in places including Singapore, Toronto, Vancouver, Los Angeles, Japan and Malaysia. In 2013, they re-launched the Nowhere World Tour on mainland China with their first stop in Hangzhou on 9th March.
