Do you like hearing ghost stories? Are you fascinated by folklore and urban legends? Do you dare to explore haunted places? If you are, then Supernatural Confession’s “Walk with Hantu: Changi Edition” is made for you.

Eugene Tay has been collecting and sharing first-hand accounts of harrowing supernatural encounters for years, channeling them into the Supernatural Confessions livestreams. Jonathan Lim, too, has been telling stories in theater – as a writer, director and actor – merging Singapore’s history and our supernatural lore. During the pandemic, Eugene and Jon combined forces to co-host GHOST-MORTEM with Eugene, analyzing short horror films and the lore behind them. Out of their infectious rapport and their shared passion for keeping that spooky flame alive, this tour was born.

Beginning at nightfall at the ferry terminal and ending at the pitch-dark rear gates of old Changi Hospital, the tour traverses the lonely streets of Changi Point. Journey through some of the spookiest spots in Changi : buildings long-abandoned and now “otherwise occupied”, locations where supernatural encounters took place, places that hide dark urban legends (and some rural ones too!). From the shadowy memories of the coastal kampong to the empty shells of British military buildings, walk with us.

Along the way, the hosts slip comfortably between grandmothers’ tales, urban legends, real confessions, and even the hosts’ own spooky encounters! The creepy tales are woven together with Changi’s history, our island’s overlapping folklores; and a mind-blowing dose of supernatural logic. Hear about suicide pacts, cursed drownings, portals to the underworld, and the spirits that haunt our shoreline. And of course, the many spirits that call Changi Hospital home.

The tour goes far beyond the ‘guided tour with storytelling’ mode of most ghost-walks. Intimate like a campfire, the tour encourages attendees to get involved – sharing their memories of Changi, discuss the spiritual lore, and even sharing their own stories. It is a collective journey of remembering. The tour is ideal for visitors to our shores as well – introducing them to the unique interplay of different cultural beliefs on this island, and examining how the layers of local history peel back to reveal the origins of our supernatural lore.
