Unspoken Life Photography Exhibition

The annual Aidha Photography Competition and Exhibition will take place on the 26th and 27th of November 2022, from 11 am – 6 pm at 78 Guan Chuan Street, Tiong Bahru. This year, we ask migrant domestic workers (MDWs) in Singapore to be dreamers, artists, and changemakers by sharing their best photographs within the theme “Unspoken Life”. This competition and exhibition will applaud and showcase the strength, diversity and creativity of migrant domestic workers who are here seeking a brighter future for themselves and their families.

MDWs have submitted their photographs based on the following categories:

1. Seeing Ourselves
Realising that we are more than the reflection in the mirror, this category aims to guide photographers to go beyond the conventional self-portrait and capture images that make them who they are – unique. We want to see learning experiences, new-found interests and milestones of their journey.

2. Stories Around Us
Recognising that powerful images can tell a story, this category encourages photographers to seek out landscapes or subjects and discover their unique narrative. When you look around you, what stories are being told?

3. Beyond Aidha (Open to Aidha students and alumnae only)
Remembering that Aidha is more than a school but a life-changing experience, this category seeks to discover what the photographer has gained after joining the Aidha family. We want to see images that paint stories of self-growth, lifelong sisterhood, new experiences and more.
