Rooting for Change: Artistic Responses to Climate Change and Sustainability is a showcase of three video artworks by Robert Zhao, DASSAD and Ong Wei Ting centred on the theme of climate change and sustainability. Commissioned by the National Museum of Singapore and the Maybank Foundation, the artworks were selected from an Open Call as part of a three-year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed by both organisations in 2019 to promote the arts, culture and heritage of Southeast Asia, while responding to the current issues of today and making a positive impact on the community.
In Rooting for Change, the artists draw inspiration from the National Museum’s collection as they reflect on the implications that climate change has on our present and the future. The artworks, which feature a mix of artistic styles, originality and innovativeness, encourage visitors to contemplate their personal relationship with the environment.
