Singapore Heart Foundation (SHF) will commemorate the National Heart Week/World Heart Day 2022 at Our Tampines Hub on 17 and 18 September this year with a physical event filled with enriching activities that benefit the heart. The focus of this year’s campaign is on high blood cholesterol, a critical cardiovascular risk factor whose prevalence has risen sharply from 25.2% in 2010 to 39.1% in 2020.
High blood cholesterol is also the second most common risk factor of heart attacks in Singapore, after high blood pressure. It is a silent killer that cannot be detected without a blood test. Through activities such as exercise workouts, health talks and a collaboration with Shopee Supermarket, the campaign this year encourages members of the public to manage blood cholesterol levels with diet and exercise modification, as well as to go for yearly health screening for early detection and treatment of high blood cholesterol.
