A tiger lurks outside the building, a doctor attempts treatment using unorthodox methods … and within the high walls of the neglected facility, a patient hatches an escape plan. Intercultural Theatre Institute (ITI) presents ASYLUM — an original work devised by acclaimed artists, playwright Jean Tay and director Oliver Chong, and 12 graduating actor-students from seven countries.
A play that disturbs, provokes and haunts you, ASYLUM is inspired by the long-forgotten histories of Singapore’s old quarantine sites.
Performed in English with some Cantonese, Hindi, Hokkien, Malay, Mandarin, Mizo and Tagalog.
English surtitles available.
