The Indian Heritage Centre (IHC) will be launching the Tamil version of its publication Sojourners to Settlers: Tamils in Southeast Asia and Singapore at its Sojourners to Settlers – Tamils in Singapore and Southeast Asia Digital Symposium which will be held in Tamil on 1 May 2021.

The book is co-published by IHC and the Institute of Policy Studies, and delves deep into lesser-known aspects of Tamil history and heritage in Singapore and Southeast Asia, examining evidence of Tamil connections with the region for more than 2,000 years. It was first launched in English in December 2019.

The digital symposium is part of the 2021 Tamil Language Festival, and is organised in collaboration with the Tamil Language Learning and Promotion Committee. It will feature 13 speakers and moderators from Singapore and India, along with dramatised performances.

The symposium is free and will be held in Tamil on Zoom. Participants can participate through the following channels:
