As part of the line-up of events accompanying the exhibition: "DANCE: A Tribute to Rudolf Nureyev", Alliance Française is proud to present a meet-the-author session with Ariane Dollfus.
What does it take to write about one of the greatest ballet dancers of the 20th century, a man whose life was shrouded in so much myth and mystery? Here at Alliance Française de Singapour, we offer you the opportunity to learn more about the story of Rudolf Nureyev's rise to fame with experienced French journalist and writer Ariane Dollfus, who will be joining us to share more about her award-winning biography Noureev, l'insoumis, a sensitive and revealing portrait of the artist published in 2007 with Flammarion.
Ariane Dollfus is a graduate of the Institut d'Etudes Politiques in Paris. She is a dance journalist, based in Paris, writing regularly for daily newspapers (France Soir, La Tribune) and weekly magazines (Point de Vue, Gala, Madame Figaro). Her articles on dance also appeared in dance magazines like Danser, Ballroom and Danza&Danza. She has written texts for programs at the Paris Opera Ballet, the Ballet du Capitole Toulouse, the Ballet du Rhin and has participated in symposiums and dance conferences.
Ariane Dollfus has published two biographies: "Noureev, l'Insoumis," (Flammarion 2007), and "Béjart, le Démiurge" (Arthaud, 2017). She has also translated, introduced and annotated Nureyev's "An Autobiography" ( Arthaud, 2016) into French. "Noureev, l'insoumis" received the "Best Dance Book Award" from the French Professional Association for Music, Dance and Theater.
