Emanating from the Deep South at the turn of the 19th century, blues music has played a crucial role in shaping America’s music landscape. A language all its own, these catchy rhythms and simple narrative ballads were first played on acoustic instruments by communities in and around the Mississippi Delta as they turned to the solace of song to escape their everyday drudgery.

Having played together in their first band Blues Virus where they served up doses of Chicago-style blues, Victor Chen and Brian Lim will reunite as music duo Delta Blues to unpack this traditional American sound. Taking you back to the plantations and cotton fields where the blues were born, the two homegrown musicians will bring this simple but expressive art form to life in a performance where the guitar weep and the harmonica croon.

About Victor Chen
The guitar has been a big part of Victor’s life. Inspired by the raw sounds of blues greats such as Muddy Waters, Robert Johnson, Howling Wolf, John Lee Hooker and Lightning Hopkins, he is also influenced by the refined picking styles of country legends like Chet Atkins, Merle Travis and Jerry Reed. From busking on the streets to stomping the stage at different festivals, Victor has been bringing his brand of music to diverse audiences in Singapore, Australia, Southeast Asia and the UK.

About Brian Lim
Well-versed in the performance techniques of blues pioneers such as Junior Wells and Little Walter, Brian is also a student of the acoustic stylings of Sonny Terry and Sonny Boy Williamson. A multi-instrumentalist unafraid to delve into different musical genres and styles, Brian brings a unique musical sensibility to the blues without overlooking its long-established traditions.
