The University Cultural Centre was officially opened by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence, Dr Tony Tan Keng Yam on 5 September 2000.

Located on the picturesque landscapes of Kent Ridge, the University Cultural Centre serves as a vibrant, innovative performing arts venue for high-quality events that reflect both the rich cultural heritage of Singapore and the best in international arts and entertainment.

Performers and producers can benefit from the state-of-the-art facilities and professional services of a standard previously unsurpassed in Singapore and audiences of all ages, backgrounds and interests can indulge in a myriad of different cultural experiences through the performances.

The University Cultural Centre has played host to performances by professional and non-professional Singaporean arts companies and international artistes such as the British jazz diva, Carol Kidd and Wadaiko Yamato, the Japanese Taiko drum troupe which received rave reviews.
