Grace Potter & The Nocturnals

Genre: Rock

Country of Origin: Singapore

Grace Potter and the Nocturnals is an American rock band from Vermont. Formed in 2002 in Waitsfield, VT, they began their career as an indie band, self-producing their albums and touring extensively in the jam bands and music festivals circuit, playing as many as 200 gigs in a year. In 2005 they signed for Hollywood Records and since then they have published three critically acclaimed studio albums, encompassing rock subgenres such as blues rock, folk rock, hard rock, and alternative rock. Their third, self-titled album (2010) has been a major commercial success, topping iTunes charts and receiving international attention.
The band's appeal and public image is largely due to lead vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Grace Potter (born 20 June 1983), who is well known for her vocal qualities (sometimes compared to rock and blues cult singers like Janis Joplin or Koko Taylor) as well as for her vibrant energy on stage. Besides playing in the Nocturnals (of which she was a founder, along with drummer Matt Burr and guitarist Scott Tournet), she has released solo material and collaborated with other artists.
The current lineup of the Nocturnals includes Potter, Burr, Tournet, guitarist Benny Yurco and bassist Michael Libramento. A new studio album, The Lion the Beast the Beat, was released in June 2012. - Wikipedia
