Following the success of its inaugural campaign in 2024, 365 Cancer Prevention Society (365CPS) is proud to announce the return of #My1stProstateCheck, Singapore’s first free prostate cancer screening campaign for lower-income individuals. This initiative aims to expand access to life-saving early detection of prostate cancer as well as raise public awareness and education on the disease.

This screening is open for registration from now to 31 July 2025. It is open to Singaporean men aged 50 and above, as well as men aged 45 and above who have a first-degree family history of prostate cancer. Eligible participants must hold a valid blue or orange CHAS card, or a Public Assistance Card, and are required to complete the International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS) questionnaire to assess the severity of the lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) in men. Those with a score of 7 or above will undergo a Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) blood test and/or a Transabdominal Ultrasound (TAUS), both conducted at 365CPS screening partner’s facilities. These tests help detect potential prostate conditions through blood analysis and real-time imaging of the prostate gland.

Prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among men in Singapore, with 7,515 cases reported between 2018 and 2022, according to the Singapore Cancer Registry Annual Report 2022. Prostate cancer often shows no symptoms in its early stages. In advanced stages, men may experience urinary issues, blood in urine or semen, unexplained weight loss, bone pain, or difficulty with mobility and bladder or bowel control. While prostate cancer is highly treatable with a five-year survival rate of over 89% for localised early-stage treatment, advanced cases can be life-threatening if left undiscovered and untreated. The risk of developing prostate cancer increases significantly in men over the age of 50, especially those with additional risk factors such as family history or metabolic conditions.
