Preschool is a critical period in a child’s development but with COVID-19 heavily disrupting learning in the past year, it is time for pre-schoolers, parents and educators to compensate and catch up.

How do you help preschool learners bounce back and enhance their resilience to face the challenges ahead?

Preschool Seminar 2021, organised by the Dyslexia Association of Singapore (DAS), is designed to provide anyone working with preschoolers with practical strategies and tips to put them on a pathway to success.

The ninth edition of the seminar offers three keynote presentations for deep knowledge sharing and four workshops for imparting practical techniques.

The speakers are renowned experts in the field of early childhood development and education. The panel of speakers comprises a professor from MGH Institution Boston, a paediatrician from KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital, DAS preschool educational therapists, an award-winning children’s book author from US, as well as speech and language therapists from PCF Inclusive Education Team and DAS.

The programme includes:

Keynote 1: Building Executive Functioning Skills in Children

Keynote 2: Reboundaries and Resilience: Enhancing Skills that Foster Boundary Recognition, Determination and GRIT!

Keynote 3: Early Identification and Intervention for Children at Risk for Reading Disabilities

Workshop 1: Interactive Story Reading: An Engaging Experience to Teach Vocabulary, Comprehension and Writing

Workshop 2: Managing Attention Issues with Mindfulness

Workshop 3: Using Prompts to Support Children in Conversations

Workshop 4: Naturalistic Intervention Approaches in an Inclusive Classroom

The three keynote addresses will be streamed live via ZOOM, followed by a Q&A session with keynote presenters and an additional panellist from the DAS Preschool Programme. Participants will be provided with presentation slides, handouts and a web link to ZOOM prior to the seminar; links to access the workshops and keynote videos will also be made available for up to two weeks after the event.

The online format gives participants the convenience of accessing the seminar from the comfort of their own homes.
