Notice: Postponement of The Nuclear Family to March 2021

Due to ongoing concerns about the novel coronavirus and its ease of transmission, we are postponing THE NUCLEAR FAMILY (originally scheduled for 12-22 March 2020) to March 2021.

This was not an easy decision, but our priority is to safeguard the health of the public and of our team members.

Checkpoint Theatre will be working with our ticketing agent, BookMyShow Singapore, to contact ticket holders in the coming week and arrange full refunds.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support. Do stay connected with us on Facebook and Instagram for updates on the rest of our season. We can also be reached at contact@checkpoint-theatre.org if you have any questions.

Stay healthy and safe!

Writer-director Huzir Sulaiman returns with The Nuclear Family, the hilarious new follow-up to his classic 1998 comedy Atomic Jaya!

Hailed as a "rollicking satire" by The Straits Times and as "pure laugh-out-loud hilarity" by The Business Times, Atomic Jaya told the story of how nuclear physicist Dr. Mary Yuen sabotaged Malaysia’s atomic bomb project and left for the United States.

Twenty-one years later, a blast from the past sends Mary and her teenage daughter careening back to her home country, where she questions what it means to belong. Once again, she is drawn into the surreal world of secret government projects, international conspiracies, and now…K-pop. With nuclear apocalypse at stake, how much is Mary willing to sacrifice for her home and her family?

A stellar cast brings to life an array of colourful new characters and old favourites from the much-loved satire, with musical numbers by .gif. Sharply witty and deliciously cheeky, The Nuclear Family is bound to blow you away!
