World of Teochew Music

Don’t miss this opportunity to experience the increasingly rare art form that is Teochew music! A collaboration between Nam Hwa Teochew Music Ensemble and theatre practitioner and puppeteer Bright Ong, The World of Teochew Music is a new take on the traditional art, combining Teochew music with puppetry and storytelling.

5 mini theatres will be set up around the main stage for the audience to experience different dimensions of Teochew music. Peep into these boxed stages and witness how it can give life to a world of miniature puppets!

About the artist
The music ensemble of Nam Hwa Opera was established on 19 October 2017 with a focus on the research, musical arrangement and development of the Teochew musical heritage. The Ensemble comprises veteran Teochew music practitioners as well as passionate youth musicians. Nam Hwa Opera believes in nurturing young talents to preserve and promote Teochew music by providing musicians with a holistic and inclusive learning environment to develop their craft.
