How did Tamil letterforms come to be? How can the dots and strokes that make up a letterform be reimagined to appreciate the Tamil language? Tamil letters have always made sense to us as a text language. The Tamil Class, a designer-teacher duo, invite us to experience the language for its visual depth.
Experiment with everyday objects to learn more about the craft and history of Tamil through type-immersion. Expand your knowledge of this devanagiri script through design exercises with us.
This workshop invites participants to enjoy Tamil letters at the intersection of language and design. Tamil Type Immersive is open to intergenerational groups. Children below the age of 10 need an older guardian as you will be working with sharp tools.
This programme is in Tamil and is co-organised by the Singapore Book Council and The Tamil Class with the support of the Tamil Language Council.
