Launched in July 2011, ciNE65 aims to capture our Singaporean identity through the lenses of local budding film-makers. It encourages aspiring young film-makers to share what Singapore means to them. This seminar is part of ciNE65 2019. Share your Singapore story and submit a 3-min short film before 18 March 2019! Visit the website for more details.

How do you convey your ideas and identity through the short film medium? Singaporean filmmakers Gladys Ng and Ivan Tan share the inspiration, challenges and the process of making their short films. They will screen their short films The Pursuit of a Happy Human Life (commissioned film for Singapore International Film Festival 2016) and Tadpoles (Jury prize at the 66th Locarno International Film Festival).

About Gladys Ng
Gladys graduated with a diploma in Film, Sound & Video at Ngee Ann Polytechnic before going to Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne, Australia, to further her studies. Her thesis film Ying & Summer was nominated for Best Fiction and Best Director at the 4th Singapore Short Film Awards. She won the Best Singapore Short Film award at the 2015 Singapore International Film Festival 2015 for film My Father After Dinner and was commissioned to make The Pursuit of a Happy Human Life the next year.

About Ivan Tan
Ivan Tan is a writer-director from Singapore. His short film, Tadpoles, was awarded the jury prize at the 66th Locarno International Film Festival - the first for a Singaporean director. Shortly after, he was accepted into the National Film & Television School (UK) under a national scholarship.
