Featuring two specially curated shows:
Diaspora: Early Literati Ink Tradition in Singapore
Art and Politics in Myanmar
33 Auction is proud to present the 2018 Singapore Spring Auction on Modern and Contemporary Art. This Spring Auction will feature two special sections, namely a well-curated concentration of early ink works by Singapore’s first-generation artists. The show, Diaspora: Early Literati Ink Tradition in Singapore includes rarely seen subject matters in the literati ink tradition, paying tribute to the contribution of pioneer ink artists in Singapore.
This Spring Auction will also see the spotlight shine on a selection of Old Masters from Myanmar. Titled Art and Politics in Myanmar, the show tracks Myanmar’s transition from a British colony to a socialist state, and now it’s slow but inexorable development towards democracy.
Other than featuring the best of Singapore and Southeast Asian art, the auction will also feature outstanding works of historical importance by venerable Chinese artists like Xu Beihong, Zhao Shao Ang, and Chen Junde. The works of these artists represent the finest assimilation of Eastern and Western artistic principles.
