What is the difference between a curator and conservator? How do they look at, evaluate, and engage with an object? Join paper conservator Esther Ng to find out about the delicate, detailed work of repairing and conserving objects from our past. Then hear from the other side, as curator Dominic Low shares the challenges of bringing these objects to life, making each tell a story.

Esther Ng is a senior paper conservator with the Heritage Conservation Centre (HCC). She trained in the University of Delaware-Winterthur Art Conservation program, and the Library of Congress in Washington, DC. Her work at HCC has been centred on preventive and interventive conservation of the Singapore and Southeast Asia collections. She attained professional accreditation status with the Institute of Conservation (UK) in 2012.

Dominic Low is an assistant curator at the Peranakan Museum. His previous projects include Joseon Korea: Court Treasures and City Life and the contemporary art commission Grains of Thought by Eng Tow (2015). He received his BA in History of Art with Material Studies from University College London.

Children (Singaporeans and PRs) enter free.
