This December, complement your visit to our new exhibition In an Instant: Polaroid at the Intersection of Art and Technology with a talk by Meridel Rubenstein, who will discuss the artistic processes in her photographic and multimedia work.
Since the early 1980s, Meridel Rubenstein has been using non-traditional photography processes to create images on 19th-century palladium, steel, glass, video, and most recently, linen and aluminium. The materiality of her photographs reflect and draw from the subject matters she depicts. In this engaging talk, Rubenstein will walk us through her interdisciplinary practice, in which she creates alternative-process photographs while conducting and realising research projects in locations around the globe.
Meridel Rubenstein is an American artist and Visiting Associate Professor at Nanyang Technological University. Her photography, site-specific installations and research practice focus on the intersection of nature and culture, especially in relationship to ecological and social imbalance.
