A special collaboration: Equilibrium and Marimekko celebrates Finland’s 100 years anniversary.

Striking the perfect balance of food and style, modern Italian bacaro and restaurant Equilibrium is joining hands with Finnish design house Marimekko to commemorate Finland’s 100th anniversary.

Combining Nordic cuisine with its Mediterranean origins, Equilibrium has specially created Finnish-inspired lunch and dinner menus in celebration of the significant occasion, while Marimekko will take over the restaurant with its new Home Fall/Winter 2017 collection, decorating the interiors and table settings with its unique colourful prints, home accessories and tableware.

Lounas (Lunch) Two Course Lunch, includes a $10 shopping privilege courtesy of Marimekko per guest.

The lunch menu opens sumptuously with a selection of three appetizers, which include a beetroot salad inspired by the traditional Finnish Punajuurisalaatti, Cold Poached Flaked Salmon with Cucumber – a take on Kurkkusalaati, and Munavoi and Ruisleipa which features butter mashed egg and handmade rye bread. Mains is a variety of five different types of taste to choose from, such as the Jauhelijaphvi – hand-crafted beef patties with ‘Perunasose’ mashed potatoes. To end the meal on a sweet note, a Chef’s Handmade Finnish Dessert of the Day can be added to the menu at $6.90++.

Päivällinen (Dinner) Five Course Lunch includes a special Marimekko gift per guest. The extensive five course dinner menu is a delicious showcase of Equilibrium’s culinary creativity. Drawing influences from the summer season, the starter is an aromatic and refreshing milk broth featuring seasonal vegetables and garlic crostini inspired by the traditional Kesäkeitto. Other highlights include the Kaalikääryleet: cabbage rolls stuffed with rice, beef and pork in a tomato beef broth, crème fraiche and lingonberries, and Välikyljys, an entrecôte steak with sautéed onions, pickled mushrooms, with ‘Uudet Perunat’ buttered new Potatoes tossed with fresh dill and a Finnish-inspired mustard sauce.

Both lunch and dinner menus include “Puolukka”, a welcome cocktail made with the seasonal lingonberries, the red treasures of Finland’s boreal forests.
