Medium Rare (1991, Singapore)
NC16 (some disturbing scenes)/Colour/English/No subtitles/ 8 min/Post-screening panel discussion in English by Toh Hun Ping & Chew Tee Pao
Director: Arthur Smith
Cast: Brenda Bakke, Margaret Chan, Dore Kraus
A journalist develops a bizarre relationship with a medium while dabbling with the mystical. Tragedy unfolds when the characters lose themselves in the bid to harness the supernatural.
Loosely based on the notorious Adrian Lim ritual murders in the early 1980s, Medium Rare is Singapore’s first full-length English language film. Shot in Singapore, it was set in various locales such as the Peranakan house on Tong Watt Road, a house on Mount Pleasant Drive and East Coast Park.
