Unconference: Demystifying the Art of Writing & Publishing a Book

Writing and publishing a book is a daunting task for many authors. Join our host Kiruba Shankar, global speaker and author of five books, to learn the nuances of writing a book and getting it published around the world. Network with fellow writers and publishing industry experts in Singapore’s first ever unconference on ‘Demystifying the art of writing and publishing a book’.

What’s an unconference?
As opposed to a traditional conference where a set of speakers talk about their experiences, an unconference offers a platform for ideas to be exchanged among participants. It leverages on the idea that the collective wisdom of the crowd is always higher than that of any individual speaker and it offers a perfect set-up for problem-solving. Participants will be able to share their ideas, exchange feedback and work towards a common goal. There will be a facilitator who will start the Unconference and also monitor the course of dialogue so that there aren’t any digressions. The ideas discussed will be presented to the participants first so that they gain a clear understanding of the direction the session will take.

The unconference aims to cover the following topics:

- Introduction to Writing
- Understanding where your strengths lie
- Setting a writer’s agenda
- Things to consider while writing your first book
- Challenges faced while writing the first book
- Establishing Discipline and Consistency
- The transition from writer to Published Author
