Ever wondered what librarians do? In this series of monthly talks, find out what makes our librarians tick as they share highlights of their work from the collections of the National Library.

Join Senior Librarian Mazelan bin Anuar as he highlights Singapore newspaper articles published as early as 1831. Discover the National Library’s newspaper collection, which includes newspapers such as Syonan Shimbun, Singapore Chronicle and Commercial Register as well as the first issue of The Straits Times published in 1845.

Learn how you can access our newspaper collection through microfilms and NewspaperSG—an online archive of Singapore newspapers—as well as search for credible and authoritative news content from our subscribed databases such as Factiva, ProQuest Newspapers Complete and Press Reader. Free admission. Please register at the library eKiosks or online.
