Many traditional Chinese New Year customs are still practised by Singaporeans to this day. Well-wishes for one another, which can be conveyed in different Chinese dialects, offer a sense of community and are very much a part of our linguistic heritage. Other aspects such as food culture and the dos and don’ts during Chinese New Year can also be unique to the various dialect groups. Join us in a lively discussion with our speaker Kuan Eng, the author of a series of dialect pictorial books, who will also present live illustrations of various items associated with Chinese New Year.
