Philips has collaborated with international media artist Nils Völker on The Breathing Wall, an art installation aimed at helping the Singaporean public understand the importance of air health.

The Breathing Wall was custom-built for Philips by Völker, and marks his first collaboration. It will be on display at VivoCity from 30 March 2015 to 5 April 2015, where visitors can learn about the importance of indoor air quality through a series of engaging activities. There are various learning areas, including one for the kids!

The large-scale modular installation is made of 96 plastic bags that are selectively inflated and deflated in controlled rhythms, creating wavelike animations across the wall. Although each bag is mounted in a stationary position, the sequences of inflation and deflation creates lively movements reminiscent of the way we inhale and exhale.
