Weixiang, also known as Wei, is a first-call jazz pianist and the protégé of Thelonius Monk alumni Victor Gaskin. During his time as an adjunct professor at New York University from 2007-2010, Wei quickly established himself as a musician of note, performing at hallowed jazz venues including the Blue Note and 55 Bar. He has performed with numerous international mainstream jazz icons, Grammy-award winners and world music giants, and has toured extensively around the world.

One of Wei's band, Grupo Clave is a modern jazz group with influences from South America. An offshoot of the local popular salsa group Havana Social Club, Grupo Clave will perform Wei's compositions and arrangements, backed by Cuban drummer virtuoso Pablo Calzado, conguero Leo Munoz, and stalwart bass player Brandon Wong. This concert also welcomes guest trumpet wizard Miki Hirose, a regular of the New York salsa scene.
