Kite Day @ Marina Barrage 2015 is a kite flying event for families aiming to bring multi-generation together.

On 1 and 2 August 2015, from 10am to 6pm, Marina Barrage will be transformed into a kite village for kite flying lovers.

Fliers from all over the world will gather once more at Marina Barrage to showcase their uniquely designed giant kites and outstanding flying skill. With these year’s theme being SG 50, special aerial stunts will be performed by kite flyers such as Singapore’s Team Airnergy. Other fun activities like kite and wind gardens making are also not to be missed.

Local and International Fliers
Andreas Ågren (Sweden)

This internationally renowned kite maker and flier has been acknowledged for his innovative single-line kites that are occasionally humorous and bizarre. He has been making kites for over 20 years, and has since been to many kite festivals all around the world. Some of his works below include the Sverker, famous for its bowtie sail, BAHCO 10 which is 1.98m tall kite resembling a spanner and a 3D kite known as eyeD.

Trevor Reeves (Australia)

This artisan uses his knowledge of fine arts and his technical skills to create artistic applique kites. His works draw inspiration from history and film, and have won awards at Bondi’s “Festival of the Winds” and Dieppe NB Canada. Some of his colourful and graphic works are shown below

Team AirNergy
Formed in Dec 2010, Team AirNergy is a sport kite performance team from Singapore. They have performed at festivals at various countries in Asia like Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam. Members of the team have also attended festivals in other parts of the world like Houlgate in France and Berkeley Kite Festival in USA. They have won the Best International Performance Team in Bintulu International Kite Festival 2012.

Frederique Riquier (France)
She first discovered the world of kite in 1993 by organising the international kite festival in Marseille, and has done it all the way till 2003. The main pull of kites for her was sharing of the pleasure in flying and its cultures and traditions with fliers and children alike. Up till today, Riquier continues to organise smaller international kite festivals (Martigues in France, in Tunisia) and holds workshops for schools, families, children and social centres.

Iteam (Indonesia)

This two-man team started in 7 July 2013 and deals mostly with Revolution quad-line kites and uses them for Kite Ballet. They have performed in many countries including Indonesia, Singapore, India, Malaysia and South Korea. They have also won 3rd place in the Rokkaku Challenge in Korea’s Sports Kite World Championship earlier this year.

SG50 Kite Formation
Local and international fliers will be present to display their beautiful kites, demonstrate their kite skills and show off with stunt displays.
