To call Eunice Png (方恩沁) a musician is only a half-truth: Every song an adventure, a fantastical metaphor, a bard’s tale, she sings stories that narrate life. Her lyrics, deeply visceral, honest, and with a dash of darkness, pitted against irresistibly catchy, buoyant melodies make for evocative pop songs with substance. To complement, her enchantingly charismatic vocals and soaring range make for flawless delivery of the adult bedtime stories she has seamlessly crafted into song.

In December of 2012, Eunice took home the title in renowned Mandopop Jonathan Lee’s (李宗盛), “Lee Guitars Songwriting Competition.” She was also featured on Mandarin primetime TV shows “Million Star Singing Competition” (華人星光大道) and “Very Perfect” (非常完美). Her performances include circuits of legendary live-houses in Taipei such as Witch’s House (女巫店), Riverside (河 岸留言), and A House. After almost a lifetime abroad, Eunice has finally returned home.

Underneath layers of colorful exposition and catchy choruses, are relatable nuggets of truth that remind us of our humanity. In a new song, she depicts an innocently beautiful love story of digital romance that spans a decade. In another, she sings allegorical fairytale lyrics like, “Forged a sword of blood that I spilt, Rubies on the hilt that I can’t afford...I may not win the war but at the least I’d settle for a little victory.” She also pensively explores perceived beauty, self- confidence, and depression intertwined in simple, captivating melodies. Whether Eunice weaves tales of epic love or songs of intimate reflection, she creates a mesmerizing world to be swept up in.

Eunice has released two English mini-albums “Little Victories,” and “Start Dreaming.” She is harboring plans to create a full-length album to take the indie pop world by storm, one story at a time.

Resident Band The Switch Gang will play after.
