Planning for Singapore presents unique challenges because it is a city as well as a country. Knowing that we have to fit various land uses into our limited land, Singapore’s planners use a comprehensive and forward-looking planning framework that provides an integrated approach to sustainable development. Tools based on Geographic Information Systems (GIS) are also being developed to help enhance how we plan for the needs of the current and future generations.
