Wild scientific ideas, exploratory laboratory experiments and Martians await children this holiday at Julia Gabriel Centre, where imagination comes to life through engaging activities that help to develop language and literacy abilities, cognitive and social skills, and self-confidence.

Specially catered to children from 6 months to 15 years, Julia Gabriel Centre’s wide range of English holiday programmes incorporate the clever use of interactive drama, art and craft activities and fun games to provide children with creative opportunities to solve problems and master language. Available from 30th November to 11th December at Julia Gabriel Centre Forum and Julia Gabriel Centre Tampines the English holiday programmes include, but are not limited to, the following:

Professor Wanda’s Amazing Laboratory (Nursery 1 and 2)
Journey through Professor Wanda’s amazing laboratory and join other young scientists as they conduct experiments and help her present new scientific discoveries at the Annual Science Fair. This Speech & Drama holiday programme will expand the imagination and spark an interest in science while building language skills and confidence through exciting drama, colourful stories, moving and speaking rhymes, art and craft, literacy activities and fun experiments.

Zip, Zap, Wonder (Kindergarten 1 and 2)
Embark on an intergalactic journey of discovery with Captain Zappa as he searches for his lost friends while learning about the secrets of our solar system – which planet has the largest volcano, which one has a poisonous ring around it and which is known as a ‘dwarf planet’. This Speech & Drama programme will help young space explorers develop self-awareness, language skills and an understanding of their own abilities through exciting drama activities, poems, stories and interactive literacy activities about our universe.

Wondrous Wonders of the World (Primary 1 and 2)
Uncover the mysterious stories behind the phenomenal Wonders of the World including the Great Pyramids of Giza, Monolithic Human Figures of Easter Island and Mount Everest through the eyes of Ziwock the Martian as he journals his visit to planet Earth. As young travel guides in this Speech & Drama and Readers & Writers Camp, children will be engaged by exciting stories, poems and speech exercises as they help Ziwock document his travel adventures.

Join in the search for the next great invention to save planet Earth and vie for the coveted place in billionaire Mr Bill Gelato’s eco-friendly company, G-Inc. Explore ways to solve the world’s fast depleting natural resources, out-of-the-box ideas to find cures for dangerous diseases, new alternatives to building materials and more eco-friendly forms of transport throughout a week of competitive scientific discovery. This combined Speech & Drama and Readers & Writers Camp promises to help children build literacy skills, mastery of language structure and grammar as candidates persuasively present ideas, plan a campaign, participate in interviews, pen informative articles and convince sponsors for grants to fund their brilliant ideas.
