Curated by Luciano Calosso and Enrica Barbano from Colosseum Cultural Association and supported by Italian Cultural Institute in Singapore, Scotts Square brings Espresso Italiano exhibition to Singapore for the first time.

From 15 July to 2 August 2015, this exhibition enables coffee lovers to learn and understand the history, evolution and culture of Italian coffee - from the origins of the espresso in the history of Italian traditions to the design of the first espresso machine. The inaugural exhibition also showcases the developments of coffee culture from old coffee houses to hipster cafes; how coffee is depicted over the years in modern society, advertising, cinema and art, testifying the different ways of tasting and preparing the drink.

The socio-cultural aspects related to coffee are presented with the help of reproduced paintings, which represent the rituals and methods of coffee drinking. In addition, the exhibition features a selection of cinematic images that recall the myths of the big screen struggling with steaming cups of coffee.
