Today, most pottery is mass-produced using electric- or gas-fired kilns. But in ancient times the first pots were wood-fired, and the art of wood firing survives today.

This presentation brings you back to a time when Singapore had a thriving ceramic industry. Made-in-Singapore ceramics were produced not only for the local market but were also exported to Europe and America. Videos, images and ceramic artworks bring the sights and sounds of wood firing into library@esplanade, and audience members will get to learn about the heritage of the process and about the dragon kiln.
