Ode To Art Gallery is proud to present acclaimed artist Mr Hong Zhu An’s 20th anniversary solo exhibition, which will be the highlight of his exhibitions this year.

Titled 20 Years of Art: Retrospective by Hong Zhu An, the exhibition will feature 20 of the artist’s artworks from 15th to 21st July 2015 in celebration of Hong’s illustrious 20-year career in Singapore.

Trained under the famous art scholar Wang Zidou, Hong is an artist that has mastered both Western and Chinese art. With a lifetime of scholarly readings and penetrative study of virtually every art form available to him, this show will be a collection of his best works and a reflection of his vast academic background

His works cannot be replicated. Behind each art piece are a myriad of layers, each consisting of thousands of calligraphic strokes. He places stroke after stroke on thin rice papers, and they come together to create a splash of colours. Soft flowing movement and hard gripped swipes clutch to paper - leaving trails and bold strokes that are bursting with emotion, movement and meaning. Calligraphy is far more than a practice - to him, it is knowledge, discipline, philosophy and heritage.

A fine artist who calls Singapore his home, Hong has exhibited his works across Southeast Asia, USA and Australia. His very first achievement in Singapore was the UOB Painting of the Year ‘Grand Award’, which changed his destiny and led him to the best 20 years of his life and counting.
