TheatreWorks presents Writing & Community 2014 this May and June!

An initiative undertaken by the TheatreWorks Engagement unit, Writing & Community is a holistic and unique writing programme that aims to seek, develop and serve.

Seek: Potential playwrights are scouted from our community through the annual 24-Hour Playwriting Competition. The 17th edition of the competition will be held at the Malay Heritage Centre from 21st to 22nd June 2014.

Develop: Prior to the competition, TheatreWorks will host a series of playwriting workshops, conducted by the renowned Tony Perez. These workshops will inspire and harness the creativity of your students in writing for the stage. The winning playwright from this year’s competition and his / her script, will be nurtured and developed by theatre professionals into a touring production.

Serve: The winning script will be staged and given back to the community by the way of the annual Performance Tour to six venues, primarily in the South East District of Singapore from February to March 2015.
