In the month of August, we celebrate the innovation and craftsmanship of singer-songwriters in Singapore. With a fresh line-up of singer-songwriters, solo vocalists and independent groups of musicians, this month’s artists focus on original work, arrangements and the creative process behind making music. These performances offer a peek into the mind and hearts of these musicians as they present and reflect on their musical influences and their journeys as they developed their own unique sounds.

The frontman of Singapore post-rock band Arajua, Fazly has been writing solo material since before his band’s inception. He draws influence from Benjamin Gibbard’s (of Death Cab for Cutie / The Postal Service fame) writing style, and possesses vocals that, like Gibbard’s voice, have a very honest and endearing quality. This performance marks a first for Fazly, who has never performed his solo material for an audience before.
