This is the creative space where art, ecology and poetry meet. An ecphrasis is a technique authors use to create writing based on a visual work of art. The more inventive the writing, the better. Join Desmond Kon, the inaugural writer-in-residence at Gardens by the Bay, in this workshop where each writer picks and responds to a broadside featuring interpretations of the natural environment, by galleried artists from countries such as Australia, Canada, Cyprus, Estonia, Italy, Kenya, Poland, UK and USA.
Suitable for both established and emerging writers, this workshop will allow participants to share their writing. Desmond will also share how his experience in the Gardens has helped him in the development of his novel.
The inaugural National Arts Council Writer-in-the-Gardens Residency aims to provide an inspirational space to empower writers to create an original work. Singapore writer Desmond Kon is the first Writer-in-Residence under this pilot programme, and is attached to Gardens by the Bay till 30 April 2014.
