This August, celebrate the nation’s birthday with our favourite songs from well-loved Singapore singers and music makers. Join these artists as they perform their very own renditions of familiar classics and lesser-known gems.

Marrying the delicate sounds of the piano and the timbres of contemporary percussion, The Odd.inary Band seeks to negotiate an arena of musical texture where both organic and electronic sounds can thrive and inspire. The Red Dot Radio sees The Odd.inary Band and special guest, Singapore singer-songwriter Dawn Wong paying tribute to some of our country’s most iconic songs.

The Odd.inary Band is

Shawn Kok
Beats

Known for his unorthodox hand drum method, Shawn aka Turbochicken is one of YouTube's most prominent contemporary percussionists with over 2 million hits. He has performed with YouTube sensations Sungha Jung, David Choi, Tiffany Alvord and Jason Chen, and worked with award-winning Singapore artists such as Tay Kewei, The Freshmen, Bevlyn Khoo and Shi Xinhui. In early 2014, De Gregorio cajons from Spain endorsed Shawn as their first Southeast Asian artist, alongside drum legends Dave Weckl and Sheila E.

Matthew Siew
Keys

Fresh off a third Asian tour with American YouTube artist David Choi, Matthew has been busy accompanying Singapore singers such as Serene Koong, Dawn Wong, Renny Goh, Tay Kexin and Shimona Kee with his effervescent groovy-gravy-oozing personality. All evidence of his classical music background is well hidden behind his funkified infectious grooves laid down to today's four-chord winning-formula songs. Don't expect Matthew to play your favourite songs the way you know them. Playing the same stuff the same way every time isn't the way to go for a kid who was bouncing off walls way before there was ADHD.

Dawn Wong
Vocals

Dawn Wong was discovered through MediaCorp’s Channel U talent show Project Superstar 2 and was subsequently invited to appear on Taipei television programme Super Idol 5. In 2012, Dawn released her debut eponymous EP to positive reviews and strong media support, and was again invited to Taiwan to perform at their largest international indie music festival, Spring Scream 2013.

Known for her whistle register vocal range and clear, soothing live vocals, Dawn switches with ease between jazz and pop styles, and bridges the two genres nicely with her own brand of jazz-influenced acoustic pop music and signature tunes like The Perfect Two (Stuck Like Glue), On The Run, and Loving You.
