There are approximately 8,000 different types of rare diseases and disorders, with more being discovered each day. Yet few know of it and even fewer recognise the symptoms.

In conjunction with Rare Disease Day (RDD) 2014 on 28th February 2014, Rare Disease Society Singapore and Club Rainbow have co-organised the “I Care for Rare” public symposium to raise awareness amongst Singaporeans.

At the symposium, Dr Tan Ee Shien and Dr Dr Yeleswarapu Sita Padmini from KK Women's and Children's Hospital will provide informative sessions on genetic disorders and developmental delays while Kenneth and Patricia Mah will share insights on managing stress at home for parents living with children with special needs.

Accompanying children will be entertained by various activities such as the Therapeutic Art and Educational LEGO Building workshops while parents gain insights on rare diseases.

The symposium is open to public free of charge. To register, please call 6377 1789 or email Alison Chang at or Nadiah at
