Images that assail our senses everywhere in today’s world have long been known to shape our identities, needs and expectations. In fact, the world of images influences us in varied and unexpected ways. The late Jean Baudrillard, cultural theorist and philosopher, explains that the interactions between the image and reality have radically altered what we perceive as real in the modern world:

“it is no longer a question of imitation, nor duplication, nor even parody. It is a question of substituting the signs of the real for the real”

About the Lecture / Workshop:
This workshop introduces participants to the ‘nuts and bolts’ of constructing, analyzing and understanding images and captions. Participants are introduced to principles of how images are constructed with the view of making images powerful and memorable. More importantly, participants learn to create impactful tag lines with images informed by several key theoretical concepts that are easily applicable to any professional industry.

The workshop includes a lecture on the theoretical aspects followed by hands-on application by participants.
Handouts will be provided.
