Based on Cormac McCarthy’s novel of the same name, No Country for Old Men tells the story of the cat-and-mouse chase between three men in 1980 West Texas, where their paths cross due to two million dollars of drug money. The Coen brothers’ adaptation was unusually faithful to the source, essentially a compression of the novel.

The film received eight Academy Award nominations in 2008, and went on to win four, including Best Picture and Best Adapted Screenplay. No Country for Old Men was also the number one film for more critics than any other film of 2007. With powerful lead performances from Javier Bardem, Josh Brolin, and Tommy Lee Jones, this absorbing and suspenseful thriller is a must-watch.
