The Nanyang style which emerged from the South-East region in the 19th century was initiated by Chinese Immigrants as they were influenced by the Western teachings of Impressionism as well as traditional Chinese ink paintings.

Nanyang Visionaries will showcase ten second-generation Singaporean artists, who push the boundaries of the Nanyang style: Ang Ah Tee, Eng Siak Loy, Choy Weng Yang, Lim Yew Kuan, Low Puay Hua, Lim Leong Seng, Nai Swee Leng, Lim Tze Peng, Goh Beng Kwan and Chua Ek Kay.

Witness the radical changes that these local artists made to tradition and celebrate the bold artistic explorations that reflect modern Singapore today. The specially curated exhibition will serve an insightful retrospective of how Singapore has evolved over time.
