A Vernacular Study of Things is a student-curated exhibition showcasing the works of selected Visual Arts students during a masterclass with acclaimed artist Richard Wentworth in 2013. It presents the culmination of the students’ experimentation with various mediums and spatial contexts.

Charting a playful and exploratory investigation, the exhibition expounds on the semantics of the everyday object. The artworks, from their material stages to the actualised pieces, have been transposed from Rochor Centre to the communal areas in school to the exhibition setting. In this process of re-situation, an organisational imagery is constructed within the gallery space, prompting a confrontation with the objects’ ontological existences.

The exhibition is part of the Louis Vuitton - SOTA Arts Excellence Programme.
