The Windstars Ensemble is a newly formed wind band made up of professionally trained local musicians, music teachers and music students. They aim to bring inspirational performances of the highest caliber to the broadest and most diverse audiences in Singapore.

A Tribute to Frederick Fennell celebrates the life of Frederick Fennell, one of the most influential figure in the wind band field who is internationally known for promoting the wind ensemble and music education in USA and abroad. It is with Fennell's vision that the standard military band is transformed to a wind ensemble, producing sounds of immense clarity and exhibiting finesse and elegance in musical style.

At this concert, conductor Toru Miura, who was an assistant to the late Frederick Fennell brings audiences through the life of Frederick Fennell's from a personal and musical perspective, sharing with the audience significant wind band works. Repertoire includes classics like English Folksong Suite by Ralph Vaughan Williams, Colonial Song by Percy Grainger, Celebration by Philip Sparke and Variation on a Korean Folksong by John Barnes Chance.
