This year, in keeping with their style of musical expression that is themed and inspired by the meaning of a single Chinese character, The TENG Ensemble presents 八 Bā - Eight, a concert and debut album launch at Esplanade. Featuring eight newly commissioned works by Singaporean composer Lim Yi Benjamin (www.limyi.com) to celebrate the collective’s eighth anniversary, the concert will also showcase the ensemble's signature brand of East-West fusion instrumentation complementing electronica, indie pop, incidental and ancient music. The musicians, with their virtuosity, charisma and acclaimed performance, promise to give music lovers a complete experience as they rediscover Chinese instrumental music anew through 八 Bā - Eight.

The critically-acclaimed TENG Ensemble presents the new sound of Chinese instruments through musical experimentation. The 8-member ensemble re-invents familiar Chinese instrumental music by blending it with modern influences, to broaden the appeal of Chinese music and take it beyond cultural boundaries.
