Incredible Rumour is one of four films directed by Ho Kian-ngiap who was at the helm of Kong Ngee's Hong Kong branch and it's affiliated Wader Studios at the time. Ho took to directing films after an early stint in executive producing, and Incredible Rumour remains one of his memorable efforts during this time.

The film stars the wildly popular Connie Chan and Lui Kay, who both formed a later incarnation of the Patrick Tse and Patsy Kar Ling pairing. Connie plays Su-lan, who works for her mother (Ha Ping) in a restaurant, together with younger sister, Su-fan (ex-child star, Petrina Fung Bo-bo). Love blossoms on first sight when Su-lan is introduced to Tsi-min (Lui Kay). However, their happiness is soured by malicious rumours questioning her mother’s virtue.
