The Association of Boarding Schools (TABS) is the public voice for college-preparatory boarding schools and the central resource for boarding school education, serving roughly 300 boarding schools across the United States, Canada, and abroad.

A recent study by the Art & Science Group offered compelling support of the strengths and advantages of a boarding school education

• Academic Promise: More than 90% of boarding school students concede they find their schools academically challenging and spend more than twice as many hours (17 to 8) a week on homework compared to their peers in public schools
• Getting Ahead: Boarding school graduates are most often professionally accomplished and actively involved in philanthropic causes. By mid-career, 44% of former boarding school students achieve positions in top management compared to 33% of private day and 27% of public school graduates.
• Learning to Lead: One distinctive characteristic of boarding schools is that character development counts as much as academics. The environment encourages self-discipline and independent thought. More than three quarters of boarding school students say they have been given leadership opportunities, higher than private and public school students
