Celebrating its 25th anniversary last year, Gabriel Axel's film about a giant repast bequeathed on a 19th-century Danish religious community charms with its austere elegance. Based on a story by Danish author Karen Blixen, the film tells the tale of spinster sisters Martine and Philippa, who live an ascetic life on the coast of 19th-century Jutland. Their cook Babette scores a sudden lottery win which emboldens her to prepare a “real French dinner”. This Oscar-winning film is a superior example of foodie cinema, a feast for the heart, the senses, and above all the spirit. Babette’s Feast is beautifully restrained and ultimately joyous. Directed by Gabriel Axel; Starring: Stéphane Audran, Bodil Kjer and Birgitte Federspiel.

Enjoy complimentary screening by making a $15++ food/beverage purchase at the Theatre bar OR the Film & Food menu at the restaurant.
